Diamor® - superhard amorphous carbon films

Diamor® coated drills and mills for high-speed machining of Al-alloys

Diamor® coated cutting inserts for the precision machining of brass

Diamo® coated deep drawing tools and components for the forming of galvanized steel sheets

Advantages

Smooth and structure less amorphous carbon films on critical functional surfaces of the tools

  • with a high hardness (> 40 GPa)
  • with extraordinary sliding properties in direct metal contact (dry)
  • with a minimum tendency of adhesion to counter face metals
  • with a thickness of < 1 µm (maintaining the sharpness of the tool)

Application examples

Cutting

  • Drills and mills for high-speed machining of aluminum alloys without coolants or lubricious liquids (Fig. 2)
  • Cutting inserts for the precision machining of brass without coolants or lubricious liquids

Forming

  • Forming and guiding rolls for aluminum sheet metal tube manufacturing without coolants or lubricious liquids; no metal abrasion, no cold welding, and no post cleaning of tube required
  • Deep drawing tools for the forming of galvanized steel sheets; the conservation and lubrication oil film completely evaporates, no post cleaning treatment required
