Thin Film Coatings

Fraunhofer developed the superhard amorphous carbon film Diamor® for high performance wear applications. The coating is deposited through pulsed arc PVD techniques and can be applied to a vast variety of substrates including hard metals, steel, glass, polymers, etc.

Smooth high quality films can be formed with very thin coatings and the hardness can be adjusted to the specific requirements of any application. Diamor® also has a very low coefficient of friction.
In addtion this coating can be applied at room temperature thus allowing temperature sensitive materials such as polymers, plastics and alloys to be coated.

Thick Film Coatings

For the protection of abrasion stressed components and tools we offer thick film wear coatings based on our laser assisted atmospheric plasma spray process LAAPS.
