Laser - MIG welding process

At Fraunhofer USA we have the largest number of high power industrial lasers in North America and extensive industrial experience.

We are a non-profit organization that offers process development and support to help you take laser welding from feasibility to testing to production.

Laser beam welding is a modern welding method, which finds an extensive industrial application, in particular in mass production, for example in body construction. Furthermore the inductively supported laser beam welding developed at the Fraunhofer IWS in Dresden opens access to crack-free welded joints also for hardenable steel, austenites and special alloys, in particular in passenger car transmission construction.

With a foundation of extensive metal-physical and system-technical background knowledge, we offer to you:

  • Development of welding technologies
  • Prototype welds
  • Process and system optimization
  • Development of welding instructions
