Overview

Our facility has the latest in high powered laser technology, including CO2, Nd:YAG and direct diode lasers, as well as CNC and robotic handling systems. We offer process development, prototype production and consultation on production system design. In addition our facility has full metallographic analysis capability for evaluation of results.

In order to offer optimized solutions for industrial production, we exploit the option of coupling laser welding technologies with other power sources.

    Laser Induction Welding
Robot Guided Remote Laser Welding with Nd:YAG Lasers
    Laser Hybrid Welding
Laser Beam Welding with Filler Wire
    Laser Brazing of Ferrous metals

Applications

All of our state of the art process technology has been successfully applied to both thick and thin section industrial applications in automotive, aerospace, defense and shipbuilding industries.

Laser technology enables welding of certain materials that might not be possible via conventional weld processes. At Fraunhofer we have extensive experience with:

  • Alloyed & heat-treatable steels
  • Aluminum alloys
  • Titanium
  • Cast iron
  • Dissimilar materials
