Technology

Laser beam hardening is a well known process. If conventional hardening technologies are not suitable because of certain geometric shapes, material and wear conditions, laser beam hardening can be ideal for produce wear-resistant parts with an increase in service life. It is a self quenching process which requires not additional process.

Fraunhofer CCL offers among other things several software solutions for the optimization of treatment parameters, laser work stations and complete solutions for the protection of turbine blades.

Applications

Laser beam hardening is used in several industrial applications with a variety of heat treatable materials. This technology is especially suitable for selective hardening of multidimensional faces, inner or hard to reach surfaces, sharp edge steps, bores and grooves, as well as for low distortion hardening.
